Anyone got any advice on shin splints? I ran a week ago and had a little bit of pain for the first 2kms and then it went away - but today from 2km on it was awful and had to stop. Worst I’ve ever had and only in my lower right leg. Any tips?

The only advice is the one every runner doesn’t want to hear. You have to reduce your mileage and if it hurts too much. Stop running until the inflammation is gone.

Taking time off won't make their shins any stronger though. The inflammation will keep coming back if you don't fix the problem causing it

In my case (and very common) was overtraining so it will heal by train in less. If it depends on the shoes, it’s a completely different story

I don't think someone struggle to running a 2k is anywhere close to over training though. They most likely just have weak shins, and need to strengthen them before continuing
