At what age did your kid learn to read? How did you go about teaching them?

Not every kid is equal. My first just learned by himself at 4, we are struggling to teach to the second one at almost 6. We started from the letter and a lot of reading together before bed. The first just clicked one day and started reading words. For the second is much more difficult for longer words.
