What does devops mean to you? 1) breaking down the silo between development and operations and merging teams so that dev and ops work together under the same manager 2) you build it, you run it - the merging of job functions so dev and ops which used to be 2 people becomes 1 Or something entirely different :)

to me it’s the process of involving the people that are gonna run it earlier in the process so they get to help make the decisions vs being stuck with something

Thanks for answering. I think one of my most favorite and least favorite thing about DevOps is it means something different to everyone. Most favorite because that’s kind of the spirit of DevOps- recognizing that things can be messy and instead of getting dogmatic about anything, just go talk to someone often solves the problem 😁 The reason I asked this question is I saw someone post about how DevOps has always been about increasing communication and collaboration. At some point along the way I somehow lost the thread and started thinking about DevOps in the “you build it you run it” mode of merging roles instead of just breaking down silos, and I really appreciated being forced to remember it’s true spirit Anyway, have I mentioned how much I love DevOps? 😁
