2 months ago @jc4p helped me try to add minting capabilities to my freecompliment.com miniapp It was too complicated for me to do in the hour we had together, but I took notes and promised I would continue to work on it. I had free time today so I picked it back up and made some progress. I technically accomplished my goal but it’s not polished enough for me to make public yet. Going to try to clean it up next week, assuming I don’t get called for jury duty 🤞🤞, and will look forward to sharing when it’s ready. In the meantime I want to celebrate the mini win. I deployed a smart contract for minting an erc721 and was able to call it from a mini app. It’s a simple implementation but it took me 8 nonstop hours bc there’s still so much surface area that’s brand new to me. I know it will get easier as I continue, but phew was it a battle today. Hence the need to celebrate the little wins https://www.youtube.com/live/pKx3R3fe4HA?si=B2glpoN0Y6mefZbS

Thinking about this, 8 hours is really not a long time so why am I disappointed? Just realized it’s only because the expectation for something so simple is that it should be doable in an hour. And I’m annoyed at myself I can’t do it faster- but why should I be able to do it faster when i haven’t done it before? My expectations are wrong. And from Buddhist philosophy I know the fastest route to an unhappy life is having expectations and being attached to an outcome. Funny how even though I know these things, I still have to keep learning these lessons! 🧘

I have the same affliction that I believe I should be able to complete anything I set my mind to. I then become frustrated becomes it takes me longer than I think it should. I should learn to be more satisfied with the progress I make

And sometimes even the most ancient wisdom takes a lifetime to embody. Time is only disappointing when we measure it against an illusion and illusions always dissolve when we bring gentle awareness to them.! Journey > outcome , always.
