"It's easy to measure engagement so that's what we measure" "But is engagement the most important part about the network?" "Of course not. The value people contribute to the network is the most important thing." "So why don't you measure and incentivize that?" "It's not easy to measure value" "Is it impossible?" "No. It's possible. And the open graph makes it much easier to do than on closed platforms" "So the open graph gives FC a structural advantage in valuing and reward user contributions to the network?" "Yes.." ".. and incentiving impactful contributions would attract both users and money to the platform?" " Yes.." "So why do you measure and reward engagement instead user contribution.. especially if contributions are more important?" "That's what everyone else is doing!"

💯so important to direct attention and resources to the things that are not the easiest but bring the most value and impact in the long run.

interesting case of circular logic ... but than as a finance person I definitely understand why people do "what everyone else is doing." But the value thing is tougher - there's no explicit value anyone creates by their contributions. Value is highly subjective feeling that comes is heavily contextual and @bfg could rant about this for hours. But it's definitely fascinating problem to be working on, if that's your job Mike?
