A lot crypto people seem to think being first to build something entitles you to collect rent from everyone else who comes later. People are only willing to pay rent if it gives access to attention / distribution / potential revenue.

it's not so much ethics as broken incentives. fact is that if there's money to be made *someone* will copy. regulation can't fix this, but crypto can create incentive alignment (wrote about this recently https://paragraph.com/@abundance/permissionless-cooperation)
