if you're building a protocol people are constantly checking if it passes all the purity tests like decentralization, permissionlessness, censorship resistance etc

and the answer is never binary so if you make a decision that is just directionally counter to these ideals then it will get a negative reaction

gotcha. 2 caveats are: 1) people tend to be much less ideological once their bags get involved (just try to have a convo about Bitcoin security model w a Bitcoin maxi), and 2) people criticize everything under the sun on socials - sometimes just need to explain the reasoning for your direction and block the noise
