Why hasn’t “physical book with a digital copy” been done?

Because Amazon wants to sell it to you twice

I think some comics publishers did it for a while back then where you get the digital version of the physical comic that you bought

Many Artist do this on SuperRare actually! You bid and buy the digital art, then get a signed physical piece too. The first buyer gets to keep the physical item while can sell the digital. Artist still makes royalties via digital copy future sales.

Agree. I prefer reading on kindle but strongly dislike buying digital books. Would pay a dollar or two more to get the digital copy when I buy a physical book.

There absolutely is. Makes traveling with the book easier

there's just not that much of a reason to have the digital copy
- doesn't get you anything meaningful for owning
- no great way to communicate social prestige by owning
