I am in the mood to read some books that will change my worldview. Fiction, nonfiction — doesn’t matter. Any recommendations?

Easy: Down and Out in Paris and London, will make you appreciate the incredible wealth and abundance of modern life Medium: The Power Broker, will change the way you see the accumulation and exercise of power Hard: The Golden Bough, will make you believe in the reality of ancient magic Impossible: Tao Te Ching, you have to put a lot of yourself into it and it might be too late already, but if you go in with a beginner’s mind, you’ll get more out of this than anything else. I recommend reading a half dozen different translations at least and synthesizing your own version Bonus: 100 Years of Solitude, will give you a fresh perspective on reality the way that traveling abroad gives you a fresh perspective on home

Just came across this cast and your account. Instant fan. Regarding Tao Te Ching, I found Steven Mitchell’s translation to be the most accessible.
