i wouldn't go this far but it's cray how many hours people do it. one of the things i'm most grateful for from my upbringing is that my parents didn't buy us a nintendo. forced to learn some skills that made life much richer. https://x.com/justalexoki/status/1923823132881617382

Honestly everything is a waste of time if you don’t take it seriously

Most people grow out of it or develop a healthy relationship with the hobby. However games back when we were kids were either short-to-medium length single player affairs with a defined story arc that could only be played linearly one way. Now you have 300+ hour games with endless possibilities and dimensions that can suck your life dry. Add the infinite loop games like Call of Duty or Fortnite, which also suck your wallet dry and you can start to see how it might be viewed as evil.
