It’s a two side system: Node operators run the validator nodes, they don’t have rETH. They simply earn the traditional staking rewards and other mechanisms ($RPL inflation and commission on protocol ETH) 1/3

rETH purchasers are providing protocol ETH to the node operators. They simply earn staking income averaged across the whole Rocket Pool network. 2/3
