Today I had my first albacore (sailing) race. It was in a newbie regatta so not against any pros, but came in 5th in the first race and 1st in the second (out of 15 boats).
We would have had third in the first race but a coach boat incorrectly told us we had to break our run.
Lessons:
- the start is critical. Get a watch and time it so you can optimize
- my downwind sailing needs work
- I’m actually pretty good at finding lines on the wind
went sailing for this first time in like 25 years , weeklong trip , did an overnight 24h traverse , it was amazing. wanting to sail more and learn more about the craft.
