Bill Kennedy commentating coaches challenges is absolute comedy. Easily the most entertaining NBA ref https://x.com/tsn_sports/status/2006207211513499796?s=46&t=LNZpH03544B952EdXOUs2w

a few interesting gravity stats - steph’s off-ball perimeter gravity is an insane 29.2 (no other player has a gravity stat higher than 20) - ant/kd are two of the best on-ball gravity and off-ball interior gravity players - jokic isn’t present at the top of any gravity metric which may be the most interesting thing jokic has a small net-positive (0.8) gravity score and negative gravity score for both on (-8.9) and off-ball (-2.3) interior gravity.

pretty cool to see the nba start to publish some advanced analytics (similar to mlb and baseball savant). gravity measures an individual players ability to pull defenders to them, both on and off the ball. gravity is calculated using positional tracking data and ai to determine two measurements—expected pressure and actual pressure—based on the players exact position on the court. we can usually see how players like steph, luka, and ant draw defenses to them, but now the nba quantifies that. now we can see just how much a player like steph can pull the defense via his off-ball movement or how luka/ant pull defense when they’re on the ball. i think gravity starts to get even more interesting when we can also quantify how players with high gravity create better “looks” for their teammates. what’s does the shot difficulty look like for players when steph is on the court vs off the court and does the expected field goal % vs the actual field goal % suggest his teammates are potentially due for regression, a hot streak, or performing as they should.

Prediction Wemby gets more taunting calls than anyone this season. Ik they are not called often, but it's gonna happen. Side note. Celebrating when others fail is a bitch move. If Wemby's attitude/actions on the court don't change, he could become more hated than Westbrook in his prime.
