I adore the technique when budget finishes or even raw structural elements are complemented with an expensive material. It looks especially aesthetic when pure materials are used - natural stone, unpainted wood, raw concrete with occasional imprints from the formwork, and patches of plaster covering chases for utilities 📍Koncrete cafe. I was already a bit upset, thinking that yet another beautiful piece of architecture hadn’t survived - the interior designed by Odile Decq for the restaurant at the Palais Garnier. But it turns out that in 2019, the space was taken over by a new restaurant, Beau Coco. And when I saw the photos, I realized that Odile Decq’s work hadn’t been lost after all. Though I have to admit, the original design felt more architectural, and I liked it much more :)
