cypherpunk
A channel for cypherpunks to share news, code, and strategies in the battle for strong individual privacy, permissionless self-sovereignty, and unlimited creative liberty.

Yesterday I saw “Nobody Wants to Talk About Jacob Appelbaum”
In it, I learned how COINTELPRO was used to destroy a community of cypherpunks
You can’t unsee it

A blockchain-backed PGP key exchange is one of those crypto use cases that actually make sense. They're also the type of projects that would help crypto's reputation in the broader cypherpunk sphere.
But such projects aren't sexy and don't have a shiny revenue model, so they get neglected.
Happy to see this changing!

There is something deeply captivating about censorship-resistant systems and rulesets that transcend any given set of people in power
I hope that in the coming years, more projects lean into the cypherpunk ethos and that Ethereum becomes a beacon again for the movement

thought I'd share this pertinent tweet by @tim-clancy that would go much harder as a cast

"Then we got this Web 2.0 -- a gold rush to commercialize the internet. To exchange a creative and cooperative space for a commercial and competitive space.
One that was centralized around silos run by giant corporations that gave the appearance of ownership without the *fact* of ownership."
Let's fix this 💪

This is a fascinating little rabbit hole for anyone with an interest in the linguistics of computation as applied to cybersecurity
Def worth your attention if you’re into any of the above or if your mind is craving something orthogonal
