We teach our children fighting isn’t ok, to solve your issues with words and communication.

I teach my kids not to fight only because they're too young to understand timing. When they grow up, I'll teach them to understand timing, that there are times to dialogue and times to fight. The world will forever have bullies that need to be stood up to

That’s when adults hurt and do whatever they want when they feel it’s justified. 

I will teach my kids to be wise and not fight. Of course I will teach them to stick up for themselves. Violence isn’t the answer.

Again, timing/context. If someone is trying to attack you with the sole purpose of maiming or even killing you, trust me, dialogue will do nothing for you. Let me give you a reference, there are bandit groups in Nigeria who go around villages killing, raping, and kidnapping the villagers. These guys don't want to dialogue, they just want to harm. There are times to dialogue and times to talk with your fists, might save ones life
