lot of takes on my personal take. im not butthurt just bc hes going after opponents. this is my personal alarm after a long list of the usual steps a dictator takes on the road to fascism, which trump continues to check off, including:

• Emphasize extreme nationalism and deploy propaganda.
• Identify and scapegoat minority groups or “enemies” for national problems.
• Suppress opposition, including persecuting political rivals and dissenters.
• Gain control of the media, using censorship and propaganda to dominate information.
• Militarize society and create or use paramilitary groups to intimidate and enforce order.
• Indoctrinate the population, especially youth, through education and organizations.
• Establish intensive surveillance and create a police state atmosphere.
• Assert state or leader control over the economy and subordinate all sectors to regime goals.
• Exhibit aggression and pursue expansionist or militaristic goals.
• Establish totalitarian rule and develop a cult of personality around the dictator.

I don’t have any unique affinity or unique dislike for Trump

I also don’t really think it’s worth it to go through all these since I don’t think either one of us is going to be persuaded here, but just what I noticed off the cuff:

These criteria are all either so broad they’re basically meaningless/cover basic functions of government, have precedent in US/western/world history without being called fascist, or aren’t really meaningfully true

Ex: by the same standards, many US presidents (including Lincoln, Wilson, or FDR) would be fascists, as well as a lot of other world leaders past and present who do not get the same accusations.

The obvious reality is that bringing this up is just a pragmatic means to an end of: associate with fascism > Nazism > completely discrediting without a second thought > opponents (Dems) stave off the threats to their power

Fair enough. But thats the whole purpose of them finding new evidence and handing it to the DOJ. 

And that's how everyone felt when Biden was in. That administration and party objectively weaponizing the courts to go after and hinder adversaries. 

It's just hypocritical to be upset when Trump does it. Hopefully you were mad about the weaponization of courts in the prior administration, especially towards the crypto industry.

if theres something new that would implicate obama then so be it. but this was all litigated a few years ago, havent seen any new evidence. until i do i will assume this is just trump weaponizing the DOJ to distract from the epstein files

So hypothetically, if evidence suggests that there was criminal activity you would not want that to be brought to light?

I mean they went after Trump on counts of falsifying business records. This is so they can call him a felon and now mention it in context of other accusations which he is not considered a convicted felon of. 

So, when the Democrats were going after RFK and Trump during the election, that is fine (provable when you track the source of funds to those efforts) but when they find evidence to criminally prosecute Obama, that's where it crosses the line?

imo russiagate was a larger scandal than watergate and i think history will judge it as such, as well as the long-term ripple effects (ex: impeachment 1.0 and the war in ukraine)

that being said, i reviewed the docs and it does seem pretty flimsy. possibly an attempt to distract from epstein like you mentioned

i don’t trust the intelligence community and really don’t like being lied to… but i see a lot of similarities between trump-russia collusion and obama birtherism – in the sense that both gave the other side (false) reasons not to accept the legitimacy of an election.

all of that being said, there are plenty of beautiful places in the world and wish you the best finding an awesome place to enjoy expat life 🙏

perhaps. i get the dems trying to get proper evidence for what we all saw when trump asked russia to leak the dnc emails. i dont see russiagate as that materially different from past propaganda campaigns and coverups, including trump trying to scrub his name from the epstein files. 

just read thru some of this also and listened to tulsi's press confs. she used a lot of charged language but if the main crime was 'subverting the will of the people' i think similar claims could be made for obama's relationship with congress during his reign.
