have found my self drifting back and forth on what role a token would play in future products i build. otoh, seems like there is a clear distribution advantage that comes from a “successful” token launch. otoh, securities laws, and doesn’t seem like there’s any “graceful landing” if you want to move on

The distribution (read: attention) you get from it is a double-edged sword since it primarily comes from rat-brained CT traders who don't actually care about your product and will rotate their liquidity as soon as the next shiny object emerges causing disappointment for any of your users left holding the bag [using otoh in two different ways in a single cast is nuts]

sure it's a double edged sword and I'll be the first to tell people that dropping a token isn't for every occasion BUT that's not to say they don't get the people going and traders are smart, you of all people should know this it's all about trying things and having fun, we're all in crypto so might as well dogfood

yeah. which feels like a total distraction from building a product people love. and what?? the whole point of otoh is the contrast between two things
