- Setup Obsidian on your computer
- Get Claude Code working
- Navigate to your Obsidian vault folder
- Open Claude code and type /init in terminal to initialize
- Begin using Claude to reference and write files to your vault

a good compromise is to either create a CC-specific obs vault or give access to specific sub-folders. or wait (a few weeks/months) until local models are good enough to hook to a fork of Gemini Cli.

Honestly this to me is about seeing what’s possible with the information you can give Claude without much setup. If i wanted to add more containment the easiest way is to use the Docker implementation with Notion that helps create an MCP out of your specific page or set of pages

Not sure if the video tackles symlinking, but that’s another trick I’ve been using to “import” context from obsidian (typically a folder, without having to /add-dir) into a project; a good compromise between utility and privacy containment.

Maybe I use mine differently from others, but it’s a subsection of contextual knowledge that I would often like to have as context for when Opus is doing some work for me. I still do most of my notetaking in physical notebooks
