Pros: - The best quality/cost of life ratio in Europe IMO - Super international, with a relatively young crowd - Tons of different events happening all the time - Many neighborhoods to choose from where to live, all well-connected and full of things to do Cons: - Sometimes you really do need to speak German or find someone who speaks - Hard to find a new apartment without overpaying - Around 4–5 months a year it gets dark by 4pm, but the main problem is that the city itself isn’t well-lit (parks, roads, etc) - Shops are closed on Sundays, and many places only work from ~11am to 7pm

the cons seem tolerable.. I lived in Helsinki for a winter with a similar darkness pattern, and it was kind of a vibe. Something about the depressing solace of it all made for a good environment to make art and write poetry, focus on work.. but yes it was challenging. The language... well i will try to learn, and in the meantime chatGPT will save me. Shops closed on Sundays: whatever! The pros are winning!

Well, I also lived in a place with an even worse darkness pattern, but I still find Berlin more depressing because there’s usually no snow, and I just can’t handle why even the walkable areas here aren’t properly lit. But the problem is easily solved by subletting an apartment for the winter
