I almost got blown up for the United States while in Afghanistan. I think about this a lot as I watch how the government treats our allies and our citizens these days. I know this piece of media has an agenda (like every other piece of media) and that Farcasters like to stay in their cozy bubble, but between the plain clothes abductions, the admin attacking Harvard’s tax exempt status, and the goofy ass supervillain gilding of the Oval Office I seriously urge you to consider the fact that we might be in for a bad time pretty soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN1oBfg0fwI&ab_channel=TheEzraKleinShow

The language should be that the US has become a fascist state, not just on the path of it It still has many anti-fascist backstops like the judicial system, federalism and a population that values freedom (I think), but why minimize the reality?

imo it’s communication strategy even if it’s more accurate (and I think in a lot of ways it is) if you *lead* with that you immediately lose a big chunk of potential audience you could persuade to understand the seriousness of the moment
