How to send DMs (that actually get a reply) I got all my lucky breaks from just messaging people and helping people out But here's the thing - most people suck at asking for stuff If you're going to send someone a cold DM, don't just say 'hi' or 'I love your work'. Seriously, what are you expecting them to say to this? Instead: • Bring value • Start a conversation • Ask a good question It won't work every time, of course, but it increases your chances of success far beyond 0% Study this picture. It's short, but shows initiative, high agency, passion, curiostiy and a lot more. Don't ask, don't get

Another interesting thing I notice in the screenshot is there’s high relevance in the ask and the person he’s asking at Snapchat It’s shot on target for a cold DM Safe to assume that lots of people fail to see that while cold DMing and choose a style that is more “throw spheggeti at the wall and see what sticks” approach, where the ask may be generic and it is shot in the dark to many, waiting for a few to pick it up and engage — sales/BD will go through a radical shift in 2025 (eye opening for me too in a way because I've done the latter so many times - this screenshot has changed the way I think about cold DMs completely)
