Not sure I agree with everything here and haven’t fully formed a stance on Shedeur but this is a great post and true in many ways.

I don’t find it plausible that this level of coordination exists amongst owners / teams on something this consequential to their respective futures. (There would be too much alpha for a team to defect from this coordination for their own self interest) My opinion is that Shedeur’s attention and bravado *is* a potential distraction — but more importantly an outside threat to many fragile coaching staffs. I think Deion would like to coach Shedeur in the pros, and GMs + coaches don’t want that controversy floating if their team starts or keeps losing. (And most importantly, Shedeur is not a good enough bet to be a team l-lifting player, so you become more likely to face this scenario)

I think it's pretty simple, any coach is going to feel threatened by bringing in Shedeur and knowing 1) Prime will be looking over their shoulder. Not saying it's right, just a huge risk. The Draft is all about avoiding risk, trying to get a sure thing. The other issue is that the coach will always be wondering if things don't work out: "Will they hire Prime instead of me?" and finally, a big risk that he has only ever played with one coach his whole life. I think Shedeur has amazing potential, and the front office makes these decisions, not the coach. But all are going to recognize that Shedeur will come with a lot of drama, no matter what. I doubt anyone is thinking "he has to earn it." They'll go with someone they think they can win with as little risk (including risk of distracting drama) as possible.
