That’s what you’d call an open secret. The real question is what’s the alternative? Most messengers and social platforms do the exact same thing. Everyone collects and shares data, with intelligence agencies, marketers, or anyone who can compel or pay for it.
The problem runs much deeper than just Telegram.

imessage and meta messenger aren't opensource so you can't be sure they don't just dump a copy of your messages to after decrypting them

matrix has fragile crypto and unencrypted parts
