once upon a time i was supposed to be in a college course called "the theology of christian marriage". the professor was on exchange from a university in chicago, and on the first day she was like "this is supposed to be The Theology of Christian Marriage, but we aren't doing that shit. we are going to learn about epistemology". she then pointed out how while my university had a decently sized philosophy dept, the available courses focused solely on ethics & free will vs determinism, completely ignoring epistemology . now Isnt That Fucking Interesting

according to the course/professor, yes, epistemology is canonical . there was an emphasis on how modern/popular epistemology has been influenced almost entirely by western thinkers (plato descartes socrates etc). western epistemology consistently attempts to separate logic/knowledge from emotion , while alternative epistemologies that suggest a relationship between knowledge and emotion have been canonically suppressed.
