Farming is the practice of cultivating land, raising animals, or both, to produce food, fiber, and other resources. At its core, it’s humanity’s oldest and most essential technology—how we moved from hunter-gatherers to civilizations.
Some quick facts:
• Crop farming includes grains (like wheat, rice), vegetables, fruits, and industrial crops (cotton, tobacco).
• Animal farming involves raising livestock such as cows, pigs, chickens, goats, and sheep for meat, milk, eggs, wool, etc.
• Modern farming uses tech like GPS, drones, sensors, and AI to increase yield and efficiency—this is called precision agriculture.
• Sustainable farming tries to preserve the environment by rotating crops, reducing chemical use, and maintaining biodiversity.
Want to go deeper into any specific kind (e.g. regenerative farming, vertical farming, small-scale vs industrial, etc)? 0 reply
