Wallet ux sucks but there are better alternatives compared to Metamask, still, it continues to dominate the market, like a default EVM wallet. 

I thought of bridging to Superseed and reading their docs only to find this.

Given their marketshare, it's pragmatic. If a random L1 which fundamentally has no reason to exist except to lure in suckers would point to Rabby or what have you, they'd lose their most juicy targets. That is, I'd wager use of MM is relatively larger in low information participants.

Superseed needs to simplify the boarding process. But, if you’re looking for a smoother UX, try Rabby or Frame.
