It's hard to give Japanese restaurant recommendations because my favorites are all these small mom and pop joints. Today's choice was an "Okinawan Soba" specialist. The soup is light but the pork is much heavier than your standard Japanese fare. The rice on the left is also a local speciality called juushii.

Nice! I never cook it at home, so it's still a treat when I go out. Today is the first day after Okinawa's rainy season, so a bit of a celebration.
