yes and wait til they become teenagers and think you’re uncool. I have been actively working on my relationship with my teen and im really grateful she still talks to me, i hear some actually stop altogether

yeah my relationship with my parents deteriorated drastically around that time.. hoping to do it differently but also not entirely sure how much can be done. it’s an important age for them to have some space

i give her tons of freedom and space tbh…. she was allowed to paint on her own walls from her earliest years…. i wanted to do things radically different from how i was….. I also give her the tools, supplies she needs and she literally creates whatever she wants…. i should write more about this…

the main thing that i remind myself about constantly: - she is a different person than me - my job is to keep her alive - i need to focus on her becoming an adult and making her own decisions… think of them not as “your children” but as people becoming adults…. its not easy bc it requires us to think differently
