Trying to properly count calories for the first time in my life. Calories In is hard as ever but Calories Out has really improved. Whoop is solid for daily estimates and the occasional Dexa scan calibrates it accurately. My basal rate is ~1500. Sloth day ~1700. No exercise but active 1800. Workout makes it 1900-2100.

And my scale now estimates fat and visceral fat % daily, and Dexa maps really accurately on occasion. Big learning from Week 1: Deficit margins are really low and one cheat meal can turn a week of deficits into a surplus. Early exercise ups metabolism gor whole day though I prefer afternoon/evening exercise.

I've noticed a handful of folks lately advocating for tracking exercise calories It's appealing in its raw simplicity https://twitter.com/Alan_Couzens/status/1772666184028111236

I did this for years and then realized once I changed my diet to focus on netting blood sugar spikes I no longer needed to worry about Calories. Technically, calories in/out is a myth since it almost never accounts for the *type* of calorie. Have you checked out "Glucose Goddess"?

Sensor tech is measuring a wider range of bio data and consequent vectors are better narrativized Really liking the exertion vs recovery meta summary

I did this for a while, the real breakthrough for me was monitoring blood sugar spikes. Once I knew what triggered appetite and changed my diet accordingly the weight fell off.

What's a dexascan? Whoop is definitely great to measure daily activities!
