Hair started thinning in my 20’s. Created a lot of angst at various points, as I thought it would be unattractive, wouldn’t get dates etc. I debated trying some of the treatments, but couldn’t get comfortable with the side effects (today, that may be different - haven’t looked recently).
When I finally bit the bullet and shaved it, I was probably 28 or so, and it was tough. Your skin is particularly pale if the sun has never touched that part. Someone thought I might have had cancer!
But within a week or two, it looked more normal, and after 3-4 months, I never really thought about it much any more. It can also be a bold/strong look, and many women didn’t seem to really mind (some even like bald guys). There are some benefits like I never need to get haircuts anymore.
Long story short it’s fine, and I don’t mind it at all. Going through it can be tough though. Gene therapies may help this over time for people. 3 replies
