I keep hearing this theory that the housing crisis will sort itself out as Zoomers and Millennials inherit their parents houses... and I'm just not sure that's going to be generally true. I think it's more likely that in most cases, those houses will be sold to pay for assisted living, end of life services and medical costs.

You are 100% accurate. Kids need to talk to their parents NOW about trusts and longterm care. I don’t think half know what the reality is

I think there is going to be a lot of people who end up looking after both their parents and their kids in housing that's way too small. It's legitimately scary.

I personally love the idea of multi-generational homes... it takes a village to raise a child after all... and I know a lot of people that had grandparents really close by and have really strong family bonds... but I want people to be able to choose that life, not have it trust upon them because of finances.

I love this too. Americans seem to be catching on to it as well. It still feels crazy out of reach. I grew up in and around Altadena where the fires were. I just heard that investment capital has already bought up 50% of the land. That community was so unique and special. I hate it

Absolutely wild that it's legal. If I remember correctly the same thing was happening in Hawaii after the fires there too... I've also heard about issues on the other side of this.... Empty nest boomers with massive houses who can't sell because interest rates are too high... they're asset-rich but cash-poor and the costs are getting unsustainable. It just feels like everyone is at breaking point.
