Absolutely devastating loss at the Grand Canyon North Rim. Built in 1937 (after the original burned down), it now lies in ruin. 

Thankfully everyone was evacuated in time because this fire tore through containment lines.

This place was a beautiful oasis for hikers coming from the south rim. I hate seeing this

It was such a cool spot. Someone on Twitter pointed out that it’ll be insanely expensive to rebuild which makes it unlikely.

I hate hikers won’t have ot. It was SO worth the splurge instead of camping. I hiked across about 10 years ago. I wish I took more pictures of it but I was beat

So rad, we camped there & had planned to come back to the lodge when the kids were older. 

Somehow this is the only pic I have of the lodge. 😅

So many squirrels. I wonder if people still be able to camp on the north rim. The hike out took everything out of me. It was a long shuttle back

I bet! We were just talking yesterday about what a brutal hike that is (comparing it to 14ers). Massive kudos!
