First 10km of straight running in what must be two years. I'll have to check that but it's around about that long. I'm still about sore from the speed work at the weekend, and I've got a new niggle in the lower part of my left, I think either from that 5km or from chasing my kid around the park. She's getting faster and it's getting harder for me to keep up with her. Amazing. Always dreamed of running races with her one day, I think we may be getting closer to that point than I'd realised. She's fast too. Anyway. Today was a tale of two halves. First five km was fucking ace. Felt amazing, thought I could go on forever, felt like I was flying around the park. Second five km was tough. 5km - 6km felt more like a km and a half, and at 8km in I actually didn't think I'd make it. I'm stubborn, though. You probably know that by now if you've been reading these running reports. I'm also fitter, I've got the kms in my legs (as they say), and I've got better stamina. It hurts, though, there's no denying it.

And even though I make it to 10, i wonder if I've overdone it. They say that mileage shouldn't jump more than 10% from week to week, and I generally tend to follow those guidelines but I also sometimes get an idea in my head I find impossible to ignore . I did it, stretched out a little bit. Knee still fucked but it's fine running so nothing to worry about there, and ambles the mile or so back home, chuffed I'd knocked out double figures. 10.01km in 56.11m at 5.37m per km overall pace.
