im very happy because at first my partner was hesitant to go away and leave us alone with mila and now she came back after 4 days and told me that she feels that mila is actually more chill and nicer and i just smiled and told her i gave her all my presence as you were out. i can be the dad you need me to be. feels good

Awesome man. Kids get different lessons from both parents, it's amazingly beneficial for her, and for you, and for your partner. Of course she's chill, she's been with you for four days, how could she not be?!

There is nothing more powerful in this world than words.

That's great. It's a huge challenge looking after your child on your own, overnight, for the first time. My kids are older and the longest mum has been away is one night, that's it, no more, than that. I actually want her to go for longer, partly because I think the kids need to realise that this parenting thing is a shared occupation and they don't need mum to do everything, and partly to prove to my partner that she doesn't need the final word on everything (it's hard sometimes for her to just let go and say, yep you can do it, and they'll be fine without me).

it is wild how the presence of the mother makes the patience level different
