Week 26 of running a 5K until $ETH price hits $5K. It’s been half a year (🤯) since I started running a 5K a week, so I decided to go all out on this one. It didn’t feel great - my heart rate was between 165-171 bpm most of the time - but it’s crazy to look back and see the progress I’ve made. From around 7:30/mile pace to ~6:00/mile. 😮‍💨 Unfortunately, $ETH has gone from $3,670 to < $2500 in that time, so I may be doing this a while. 😆 https://farcaster.xyz/mathew.eth/0x5b122dee

I surprised myself, honestly. Sometimes I have it, and sometimes I don’t. I can’t quite put a finger on what it is exactly; probably just general energy/adrenaline levels.

I mean that's an insane time, congratulations. Think you can go faster? Were you always a runner? Or sporty? Don't know if I'll ever be able to make it around 5km that fast.

Idk how much faster I can go. I think my fastest 5K was in a 10K race and it was 18:38 (so pretty close to this time!). I’ve always played team sports (baseball, football, hockey), but never considered myself a distance runner. I ran the 400m and 200m in my one year of high school track and it wasn’t until I ran a half marathon in 2017 and trained for that, that I ran more than 2-3 miles at once. I actually don’t love running, but around the same I trained for the half, I began to trail run, and found that a lot more palatable (and dare I say, enjoyable?).

Thank you! Just aim for incremental improvements and the seconds will slowly shave away. I’ve also found that speed intervals really challenge my body (legs, lungs and heart) and allow me to sustain faster paces during distance.
