Those ârandomâ Native guys? Theyâre Choctaw vampire-slayers. The tribeâs been guarding Mississippi from undead colonizers since the 1800s. Coogler uses them to show that the fight against oppression didnât start with the main charactersâŚitâs been going on for generations. Itâs spiritual, historical⌠deep. The Asian chick? She wasnât just tweaking. She knew the vampires already had access to her husbandâs memories. That means they might come for her daughter next. She didnât flip out for no reasonâŚshe acted out of fear, out of desperation. That was survival instinct masked as madness. And yeah vampires vs 5 humans sounds crazy. But thatâs the point. Itâs humans going up against a system way bigger than them. Vampires werenât just monstersâthey were metaphors for the people who feed off others and never die. The whole movieâs a battle between power and the ones it chews up
