Curious how often people make actual $ bets with friends?

Looks like prevalence of apps has cut into peer-to-peer appetite.

There was a 2022-23 pew study that found solo-betting apps have cut into the "social betting" habits of past:

- people with online sportsbook account is up to 20+% (from ~10%)
- people who bet with family / friends down to 15% (from ~35%)
- people who did social pools down to 35% (from ~50%)

This aligns with what I see anecdotally, both IRL and with bracket

I think there are new formats of social betting that will emerge though (bracket has already found a couple that work)
