although.. a land project on this scale and the proposed outcome would print money for the city and would be a beacon for federal funding. its the type of effort that the early 1900s mastered. Some of the most valuable real estate of New Orleans was built this way.

There is a fantastic book titled Draining New Orleans: The 300-Year Quest to Dewater the Crescent City by Richard Campanella[0] that explores these efforts of separating water from mud. Its beautiful hardcover and would look great on your coffee table (it does on mine!)
