the dichotomy of farcaster is that: while.. most consumer social products need to embrace the fact that SEA is their DAU farm they've prevented spam, by: > $2 entry fees > twt account older than 18months or has 300 followers which is great. i see why they do it. to keep it high quality / high signal. but then the denominator goes from 1bn scale to ~1m high signal X accounts. (assuming X is their top of the funnel, rn)

Totally get the trade-off you’re flagging. Yes, the $2 fee (i paid 5$ back in the day) + legacy-account filter keeps the feed signal-rich, but it also means growth relies on converting quality-over-quantity early adopters before chasing the wider SEA curve. My hunch: once reputation layers mature (e.g., wallet-based social proofs), they can lower the gate without flooding the whole space with low quality users. Then they can scale responsibly. I'm not entirely sure what the best marketing solution would be, though ... tiktoks? a money making $degen app? 🎩

SEA launch seems to be imminent. I wonder how this will affect the market.
