Around $420 CAD after tax for a little media server that could double as my actual computer if needed. Currently I’m using a 512GB external SSD connected to my docked steam deck, and some scripts to keep it always on and connected to Jellyfin. But I’m worried about this potentially creating wear on my steam deck. I think the Mac Mini is more future proof, plus it’s intel so I can always put Linux on it if I want to down the road. Supports up to 64gb of ram, so I might even test some local models on it 🤔

Originally I looked at little Zotac/Beebox miniPCs and even stuff like Raspberry Pi, but most of these were either not upgradable, had limited io, or cost more than this. I even checked ebay and nothing compared to this amazon deal. I'm a little mad though because yesterday there was a 256gb model for $239 that would have suited my needs just fine. But it sold out 😤 That's why I listed my veNFT. I wanted to get this while the gettin's good

Not even sure I'll keep going with Jellyfin. I've been using Infuse on my AppleTV, Mac, and iPhone to access my jellyfin server anyways, so I think I'll just switch to SMB. I used to use Infuse with SMB via a router attached SSD (which was stupid I know), but it means I'm used to that interface. https://youtu.be/ek-7aTRmhvE
