your high drug prices are primarily caused by your broken healthcare system with tons of bloated admin/middlemen, not america sacrificing itself for the greater good.

If you think that pharmaceuticals just magically appear and are not the result of billions of dollars in failed other drug R&D and the only way they get funded at-scale is through capitalism, well then agree to disagree. :)

I don't understand. Am I supposed to be excited that they have hundreds of billions of dollars? What percentage of that is reinvested versus what percentage is paid to C suite + investors?

What % of those drugs are then sold in the US. The company we’re talking about is a multi-hundred billion market cap company because they can sell drugs more expensively in the US.

I understand that companies make a lot of money from the US. this is essentially the same reason why private clinics/hospitals seem to be so much better than public ones. their mere existence is detrimental to the system as a whole. they leach value that could go elsewhere.

to be fair a lot of EU companies go through the FDA approval first and target the US market, because it's the most lucrative, but the counterfactual of 'otherwise this research wouldn't get done' has no empirical basis - exactly because it's a counterfactual.
