My (current) Top 4 First Era Black Sabbath songs. Geezer Butler - Bass - Wrote most all the lyrics. Toni Iommi - Guitar - Came up with epic riffs and licks. Two fingers on his fret hand were lost as a young man, replaced by metal tips. Ozzy Osbourne - Vocals - Created vocal Melodies (and lyrics) with spots for Geezer to write into / Charisma Bill Ward - Drums - Had a history of Big Band and Jazz drumming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFzDKTNLr2k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xFc86tzFG4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSSEzWXqGKY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSF3HviqlPk

Ahhh, thats very cool, my Dad wasnt a big metal guy, we bonded over NBA and other things. If i had to pick an important year in music, it would be 1971. All major post rock genres can be traced to that period. I worked my way through most all metal (and other genres) and went back to Sabbath when I found out Doom was one of the main subgenres I liked and they have been Gods ever since. Also, I just found out Ozzy was just about the same age as my Dad and passed away from the same condition, diagnosed at the same age so that kind of hit home a bit more for me. Its weird how certain things in your life dovetail.
