Yesterday on my way back to the city I sat next to a woman on the subway. We began talking and she told me she was a wildlife vet. I asked about kind of animals she helps typically, and she told me…squirrels! She said there is an issue right now with the city’s squirrels losing bone mass bc their diet has shifted to peanuts and bread from people. They aren’t foraging enough! Don’t feed the squirrels let them do their thing so their bones grow!

I heard something similar about ducks. I used to feed bread to ducks in park ponds, but I stopped doing it since I've learned that it's not good for them.
