To me, Wes Anderson is hit or miss. ‘The Phoenician Scheme’ qualifies as the former. Benicio Del Toro is magnetic + enigmatic, and Mia Threapleton holds her own in their repartee. Yes, she’s Kate Winslet’s daughter, and you can’t unsee it once you know. Sit center cinema to savor the signature symmetry.

the first and only Wed Anderson movie i've seen is The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. what do you think of it? hit or miss? i've seen the trailer for the Phoenician Scheme. looks good, tbh.

I missed that one, probably because it was a Netflix movie, which I tend to skip. I didn’t realize it was Wes Anderson or I might have watched it — and I might yet. I’m sure it has his hallmarks, though. At this point I don’t think Wes could make anything that doesn’t look like Wes. You should try Phoenician.
