Final budget number is $170 billion for ICE. …. versus $8 billion budget for ICE currently. Considering that ICE ran out of "dangerous criminals" immediately and started raiding work sites and courthouses, you really have to wonder why they need such a massive budget...

That's the thing though... immigration in the US is under control. The main reason why there are so many undocumented people in the US is because the paperwork process is so slow... and that's USCIS not ICE. Honestly man, with $170B, I think way more people than just undocumented immigrants are going to be targeted.

But if they start targeting people who came in legally by applying for visas and haven’t elapsed their stay, then that would be shameful. Hopefully that doesn’t become the case

What's the problem being solved here though? The US has historically low unemployment... so it's not like documented or undocumented immigrants are putting citizens out of work. Immigrant crime is statistically much lower. Housing is really expensive, but its not illegal border crossing people buying up houses. What problem is ICE truly solving, and is it a $170B problem? Are there more pressing problems in the US that $170B could help solve?
