crazy but most biology experiments are still done by hand (e.g. pipetting, mixing).

leveraging AI for biological progress is only as good as the data, but that data is bottlenecked by human hands just as LLMs are by text.

biology won’t accelerate until robots + software primarily run experiments. big opportunity.

I think it depends what pov you’re looking at it from.

Coming from the rare diseases space (PKU, Hemophilia, etc) there was sometimes less than 2,000 globally with our diseases so there is only so much experimentation you can do.

When I switched to oncology the numbers where way higher but a lot of the usage of our drugs expanded bc of experiments

yes but data still so limited in grand scheme of things!!!

like all the protein folding predictions are still limited by current data and experiments

Yeah, lots of bottleneck in biology....

Though it seems like the FDA is the big reason why there hasn't been too much innovation...

cloud labs have been around for a bit but very big difference between labs like quest and labs like nih

the latter is def much harder to scale with robots

You've hit on a fine point and this is a great business which does (more or less) just that.

That said, this is just a step in the right direction - biology is so complex and we frankly don't even know what all we should be measuring.
