observations*: people are starting to care about decentralization and ownership, apparent in articles about BlueSky and in user reactions to Reddit selling data to OpenAI majority of crypto twitter does not care about decentralization, they care about making money majority of people do not care about or for crypto

one thing that I think is broadly misunderstood with decentralized systems is that users actually own their data _less_ than in a centralized system. e.g. you could probably persuade X through the courts or similar to delete some data of yours, but you can't really do that on a truly decentralized social network

yeah agree with you on this. and if you want to save your data / content here, you have to pay more for storage for it vs. company underwriting the costs for decades 😅
