Yes I did same last week , cos I heard you shouldn’t eat sprouting foods n I got 2 more n now those 2 are sprouting again 
Just confused on what to do with them cos one of them is still very whole

Yes, to some extent cause of the release of some chemicals it produces. If the yams get access to any amount of sunlight and moisture they would sprout. Cutting off the head or covering it up would help. My mom usually stores hers in a cool dry and dark cupboard
