Moving at the speed of US Government: The IRS Edition. For years as a nomadic traveler, I've had to ask a family member to print out a form and mail a check for a very specific tax withholding for one of the business entities I manage. There was no way to do it online. Until now! To make the payment online, I just have to: 1) sign up to the EFTPS website 2) wait for a PIN to arrive in the mail - estimated 5-7 days 3) 2 weeks passes 4) I call someone after 5 min on the IRS call tree, who pretends he can't hear me (my room is echo-ey) 5) I call someone else, who is very helpful. She tells me that I added the wrong number on the form. They would have mailed me in a few weeks to let me know 6) I fill out the form again Future stuff: 7) I wait another 5-7 days 8) my virtual mailbox receives the form & scans it 9) then I can create "an internet password" at the EFTPS website 10) then *maybe* I can make the payment myself!!! That's progress folks!
